But the most important calls are often the ones that do not come over the radio. They come from within our own ranks. Peer support is about recognizing that strength is not just measured in response, but in our willingness to stand beside one another when the uniform comes off and the weight of the job sets in. It is built on trust, shared experience, and the understanding that no one knows the challenges of this profession better than those who live it every day.

Welcome to the West Virginia Peer Support Group (WVPSG)
On behalf of the team, welcome. This group was created for the men and women of the first responder community across West Virginia who understand the unique challenges of the job and the importance of standing together.
I’m Paul Wind, CEO of Battalion 1 Consultants, and it has been an honor for our team to work alongside many of you in developing and implementing the WVPSG. In partnership with First Responder Coaching, we’ve focused on strengthening leadership, building connections within the mental health community, and moving our organizations toward greater resiliency.
This page is your space.
Use it to share experiences, ask questions, offer support, highlight opportunities, or simply let the group know where you are mentally on a given day. Peer support is built on trust, respect, and the understanding that none of us walks this path alone.
We are a team—for each other and for our families.
Let’s continue to support one another, learn from each other, and take the opportunities before us to build a stronger future for our first responders.
— Paul Wind, Battalion 1 Consultants
